Updated Elegance
Infinity Construction’s client invited us to modernize their classic colonial home and bring it into the 21st Century. This home is a three-story monster that never seems to end, originally constructed in the early 1980’s. The owners asked that we update the home without changing its original style. Infinity Construction took the challenge on and embarked on a total makeover to include removing the glazed tile throughout much of the main level, that looks like brick, and replacing it with sand and finish hardwood. In doing so we had to remove 1600 square feet of tile, raise the floor levels, and tie it into existing stained and finished hardwood without transition strips.
The complex part was making all these facets work out and fit tightly to the existing kitchen cabinets without leaving a gap between cabinets and hardwood. Several other project areas were remaking three bathrooms upstairs in total, whole house repaint both on the inside and outside, removal of wallpaper – and there was lots of it, new oak rear stairs, refinishing of the primary oak stairs, matching 40 year old poplar moldings throughout, new VLP flooring downstairs, new kitchen downstairs, modernized guest bath downstairs, new windows at the rear sun room – and these were massive and on the second floor, new carpet throughout, new master closet shelving, new electrical wall switches and plugs throughout, attic office remodel to include sand and finish hardwood and a new bath and kitchenette, new updated lighting, new exterior siding, new gutters and gutter guards, repair of a long running roof leak, refinishing of the hardwood throughout, refinishing of oak basement stairs and many, many more items.
What all this hard work gave our client was an exceptionally elegant home with an updated and much more functional feel. Infinity Construction was so proud of all our subcontractors, designers and all the hard work we all put into this massive project. Most importantly our homeowners love the finished product and intend to enjoy it for many, many more years to come.
